What is the Excel V laser?
The Cutera Excel V laser is used to treat various conditions including broken blood vessels, redness, rosacea, acne, angiomas, scars and port wine stains. It is also used to effectively treat skin discoloration including sun spots and freckles.
How is the Excel V laser performed?
The laser is performed as quick office procedure and only takes about 20 minutes. It feels like a mild, brief stinging sensation as the laser targets certain areas on the skin. It is very well-tolerated and no anesthetic is required.
What can I expect after the Excel V laser treatment?
You may experience temporary redness and mild swelling after the treatment. Rarely, bruising may develop but resolves within a few days. Most patients return to work the next day. You may apply ice periodically for the first 24 hours as needed. Sun exposure prior to and after the treatment must be avoided, and your provider will advise you on the best ways to keep your skin protected while healing.
How many treatments are required?
The number of treatments varies depending on the skin condition being treated. Most patients require 2-3 sessions spaced about 4-6 weeks apart for optimal results. Periodic treatments may be needed to maintain results in the long term.
